The first instrument I learned to play was the trumpet.
Next came the drums, and finally the guitar. I picked up the guitar for the first
time in high school. I can’t remember exactly what age I started playing, but I’d
have to say I was around 15 years old. I’ve had one lesson, and figured out very
quickly that it would be my only lesson. I never took well to direction on how to
do things…and the guitar wouldn’t be the exception. That being said I guess you’d
say I’m self-taught…and yea, that’s true. But I’d have to say I had a collection
of the greatest teachers: Slash, Joe Perry, Jimmy Page, Brian May, Eric Clapton,
and Dave Matthews. Not necessarily all the same styles, but damn good players
nonetheless…and they’re the ones that I learned from. Some of my favorite groups are:
Guns N’ Roses, Dave Matthews Band, Toad The Wet Sprocket and Queen…that’s just a few
because the list would go on forever. When it comes to song writing…relationships seem
to be the core-inspiring element in everything I write. Whether it’s my own experience,
or a story of someone else’s…there’s very few times to find a person as defenseless as
when they are in love or hating the one they love. That always sets ground for a good song.
I guess if you’d ask those that know me, they’d say I’m a pretty laid back guy. Give me beer,
pizza and a bottle of ketchup…and I’m good to go! Ketchup is the greatest condiment of all time,
and deserves to accommodate pretty much every food… especially pizza, baked potatoes, and Italian
Subs. I don’t like Ohio all that much, but at the same time the experiences I’ve gained here is
what made me who I am today. That alone is enough to say I wouldn’t change a thing.
My biggest annoyances are: spoons rubbing against styrofoam, people grabbing my nipples,
traffic, office cubicles, overly dramatic females, and pessimists.
I do like: Corona and Miller Light beer, Peach Snapple Tea, The Goonies, summer nights/fall
days, Taylor acoustics and Gibson Les Paul’s.
